Film 3 Idiots Highest Rank at IIFA Awards 2010

Film 3 Idiots was the best at IIFA Awards 2010 in Colombo on June 6, with 8 trophies including coveted Best Film and Best Director.

3 Idiots was the big winner at IIFA Awards 2010 in Colombo on June 5, with 8 trophies including coveted Best Film and Best Director.
The event was hosted by Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani.
Amitabh Bachchan was named Best Actor for his much acclaimed role in Paa, while the Best Actress Award was a tie between Kareena Kapoor (3 Idiots) and Vidya Balan (Paa).



Sharman Joshi won the Award for Performance in a Supporting role - Male for his role in 3 Idiots, while Divya Dutta won the Award for Performance in a Supporting role - Female for Delhi 6.
Zeenat Aman was honored for her Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema and J. Om Prakash for his Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema. Shatrugan Sinha presented Zeenat her award and Hrithik Roshan honored his grandfather J. Om Prakash. 



Govinda presented Sanjay Dutt the Award for Performance in a Comic role for All the Best, while Prem Chopra presented Boman Irani with the Award for Performance in a Negative role for 3 Idiots.
The Green Globe Crusader of the Year presented an Award to Vivek Oberoi for his contribution towards the environment, while Anil Kapoor was presented with the Award for Outstanding Achievement by an Indian in International Cinema.


Jacqueline Fernandez and Mahie Gill were presented with the Star TV debut of the year (Female) Award, while Jackie Bhagnani and Omi Vaidya won the Star TV debut of the year (Male) Award.
The glamorous Awards night saw performances from some of the biggest names in the Indian film industry. A performance by Jacqueline Fernandez opened the show, while Salman Khan gave a stylish performance dancing from the famed IIFA Green Carpet.
Hrithik Roshan danced on stage for the first time following his knee injury three years ago; he even sang during the unforgettable performance. 

Others who performed included Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Anil Kapoor, Govinda and Vivek Oberoi.

Presidential Award For Anupam Kher

The 5th of June 2010 is going to be a big day for actor Anupam Kher. He is going to be honoured with Presidential Award for his contribution to cinema in the ongoing Indian International Film academy (IIFA) award function in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
“I will get the Sri Lanka president award at the FICCI-IIFA Global Business Forum tomorrow (Friday) for my work in cinema. It’s an honour,” he said. The veteran actor will receive this honour directly from the Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa, in the award function.
Anupam Kher is a veteran actor with decades of experience in the Indian film industry and starred in huge hits like “Saransh”, “Daddy”, “Karma” and “Tezaab”. Recently he was seen in offbeat films like “Morning Walk”, “Khosla Ka Ghosla”, “A Wednesday” and “Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara”. His power packed and charming performances make him a deserving recipient of the honour, we must say.
Kher also ventured into direction in 2002 with “Om Jai Jagadish” and produced critically acclaimed film like “Bariwali” (1999) and more recently in 2005, “Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara”, in which his performance was much applauded.
These aside, he is quite popular in the theatre circuit and also runs an acting academy called Actor Prepares in India and abroad.

Aishwarya Rai will not be attending IIFA 2010 Awards 

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan will not be seen at the upcoming IIFA Award 2010 festival. They will be busy with their own works.
Aishwarya Rai returned from Chennai where she was busy shooting her upcoming movie, Robot, with Rajinikanth. Then she would fly to Paris in the first week of June where she would work with “Longines,” the International watch brand. Aishwarya Rai is the brand ambassador of Longines.
On the other hand, her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, will be busy shooting in Istanbul for his upcoming movie, Game.
Abhishek Bachchan’s father, Bollywood legend, Amitabh Bachchan will also not attend the IIFA 2010 for he is getting threats from some Tamil groups who are protesting outside his residence. However, he did not disclose the matter. Amitabh Bachchan remained the brand ambassador of IIFA for ten years.
This year, the IIFA 2010 will take place in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka from June 3 to June 5, 2010.
At Cannes, Aishwarya Rai caught the media’s attention for her fashion wear. Since 2002, Aishwarya Rai has been attending the Cannes film festival on a regular basis as a brand ambassador of L'OrĂ©al.
However, this year was special for her for she also promoted her upcoming movie, Raavan at the Cannes Film Festival.
The Cannes Film Festival 2010 also remains special for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for another reason. News spread out that the former beauty queen got an offer from famous Hollywood director, Matrin Scorsese.
Scorsese and Aishwarya Rai met before attending Cannes. News reports said that she caught the attention of the director at the French Riviera. Mr. Scorsese had been constantly praising Aishwarya and the two talked about movies.
Scorsese also invited Aishwarya at the screening the Italian classic movie II Gattapardo, directed by Lucina Viscomti. This was followed by an exclusive dinner which was attended by only eight guests.

The IIFA Awards 2010 finished on June 5, 2010. This year, the award show took place in Colombo. This is the 11th IIFA Awards and it is special for many reasons. This year at the IIFA Awards, Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots came out as the biggest winner. The movie won sixteen awards.
This year, the IIFA Awards took place in Colombo. The IIFA Weekend was observed from June 3, 2010 to June 5, 2010. The weekend had many exciting events. The final gala took place at the multi-purpose Sugathadas Stadium in Sri Lanka

The IIFA Awards show served as a great opportunity to promote Sri Lanka as a tourism destination. After a long bloody civil war, the country has finally seen some political stability and now it is working hard to improve its image around the world and IIFA Awards 2010 provided the Sri Lankan government a great opportunity.
During the IIFA weekend, many interesting events took place during the weekend including- FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum, the IIFA Foundation Fashion show, the IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket Match, World premieres of Indian films, IIFA Film Workshop and the IIFA Awards show.
